Today was a day of building confidence, especially after yesterday afternoon.
There’s professional confidence: where I show up to meetings and know what I’m talking about. I was relatively productive, which always makes me feel good about myself. I carried on discussions with people who work for me and felt confident in the things I was saying and the work we were doing together. I helped wrap up some work that’s been hanging around my neck like an albatross for over a year. I possibly helped a friend through a portion of her shitty day by showing her this picture that we both have come to love and identify with the last bastion of hope and happiness standing between our worst, most beaten down selves and a broad smile and deep laugh.
I even interfaced and worked calmly and productively with departments that would normally put me in a rage. To those of you wondering, no I didn’t enjoy my day but it sure as hell beat the last month and a half by a long shot.
Professional confidence tends to bolster and have a direct impact on my personal confidence and vice versa. Maybe it’s more of a negative influence where a dearth in one affects and diminishes the abundance of the other.
My personal confidence did well today too, remarkably. My personal confidence ebbs and flows, to some extent, with the experiences I’m having personally. As I type that out it seems like a rather obvious and bone-headed declaration like proclaiming that eating food makes me less hungry. But as I’m treated well and as someone I’m interested in thinks well of me, my confidence starts to climb.
So today was a good day on both fronts I think.
In other news I think I need to find a way to supplement my evening diet. I may have mentioned this before but I alternate between a chicken & rice dish and prepackaged Buitoni three cheese tortellini and ravioli. I’m tired of ravioli and tortellini … to the point where I’m not finishing my meals because I just lose my appetite 75% of the way through.
I’m a single guy. As Seinfeld would say, there are no other guys with me, it’s just me. So what are some rather healthy things I could prepare relatively quickly and without a whole lot of prep time, but still be filling … and last in the refrigerator or freezer for a couple weeks? That’s pretty much the criteria for my food. Can it last 2-3 weeks? No? Can I freeze it? Great.
For lunch I eat sandwiches, salads, and mexican food predominantly. Burritos, tacos … no Taco Bell crap either. Only the good stuff. Sometimes I have Hawaiian BBQ pulled pork … but in general that’s it for lunch. Once I come home though … I have to do something for myself.
What are some easy recipes you use? What do you prepare for yourself? How expensive is it? I don’t have a grill, although I guess I could get one … I just have a microwave, a stove, and an unreliable oven.
As a final question, what do you all think of the podcasting? It’s been going on for a while now and I’m curious if anyone is actually listening to them or using it. (clearly I haven’t been tracking usage statistics)
